Dante’s Destiny III: Millennial Reign

The country conducts the largest withdrawal in military history. Then over two-billion people vanish from off the face of the earth. In an instant, the world is plunged into darkness and chaos. There is no logical explanation for the phenomenon, which causes global panic and rioting to run rampant in the streets. Military personnel rush to stop the violence and to maintain order. Out of desperation, the government elects an interim president that promises peace but war is in his heart. This final installment is more than a conclusion but a glimpse into the future.

“Life as you know it will change forever…”

Excerpt

Six hours later, the state of the world can only be, described as total chaos. Mass looting hits every major city, as many believe the end of the world is at hand or that it is truly going to hell in a hand basket. Many countries declare Martial Law with military personnel working hard to regain order in their streets. Churches, cathedrals, synagogues, and temples throughout the world are, packed with standing room only.

However, most of the pastors and priests that led these houses of worship have vanished. There are very few spiritual leaders left, to give spiritual guidance and comfort for what has happened. Miraculously however, there were no fatalities as a result, of the vanishing. For reasons unknown, billions of people all over the world called in sick to their jobs, cancelled trips on planes and trains, or simply did not show up when scheduled to do so. Pilots, train operators, taxi cab drivers, and other forms of transportation operators, simply did not show up for work.

This of course, caused major delays and frustration for tens of millions of passengers, all over the world. In addition, cars, houses, and other properties owned by those who vanished are now vacant, making it a field day for thieves and dishonest citizens. Homeless-people are starting to move into vacant homes, along with drug addicts, prostitutes, and those lured into the gangster lifestyle.

In the financial district, people are having a hard time accepting the recent stock market news. So much so, that some have jumped out of their office building windows – plummeting several stories to their deaths, while others took a more subtle approach, like sleeping pills. Many analysts predict that it will be impossible to recover now that foreign and domestic trading has slowed to a crawl, and consumer confidence is almost, non-existent.

Speaking of consumer confidence, it is further, shaken by the fact that A.J. Grimason II is now the interim president. He relishes how easy it was for the desperate and panic-stricken government to just, hand him the highest seat in the land. It is far more, power than he could have ever obtained on his own. A secret swearing in ceremony took place, without the public’s knowledge – conducted by Chief Justice Carl Withershins.

All those years of trying to stop, Dante from leaking the information in that incriminating letter, now appears to have been a huge waste of time. Now that he is the top man in charge, he can do whatever he wants – so he thinks. Dagon made sure Grimason made it into the office of the presidency. However, the price for such a powerful position is Grimason’s soul on a silver platter. Bon appétit!

§

At the Presidential Mansion, Grimason’s top aide briefs him on the current state of the world, and gives him advice on how to resolve the immediate problems, here at home.

“Sir, I believe there is only one way to put a stop to all the looting and violence,” confidently said the aide.

“What is it?” asked Grimason, with a smirk on his face.

“All the analysts I have spoken with concur that now is the time to initiate, the Global Observation Directive. Once we have the system online, we should make it mandatory for every citizen from the ages of five and up, to have the chip implanted in the palm of their right hand. As you know, President Destiny had the project scrapped and its funding locked.

“Many across the globe agreed with her; that it was a bad idea to have the government connected to everyone in the country. It is understandable since we will be asking citizens to give up much of their privacy. Getting them to comply will be a tough fight. However, given the dire nature of this crisis, it is the best time to argue the great need and benefits for having it.”

“I like it. This country has given its citizens far too much privacy in my estimation – making my former job hard as hell. Finding terrorist and so-called sympathizers, near and abroad was like searching for a proverbial needle in a haystack. With everyone digitally plugged into one central database, it will be easy to locate those who break the law. In fact, let’s make it so that everything that a person does is automatically, downloaded into the system.”

“Why?” asked the aide with much concern in his voice and on his face – sensing that Grimason’s train of thought is crossing over into dangerous territory.

“Well, everyone needs to eat, buy goods, and conduct business on some level; right?”

“Yes sir.”

“Well, we can simply have all that information downloaded and used to our advantage to maintain order throughout the country. No one will be able to buy or conduct business without the implanted chip. We’ll not only be able to locate an individual but we will be able to study their spending habits and come up with unified ways of conducting business across the globe. However, this aspect of the system will only work if the entire planet gets onboard. Troubling times brings out the best and the worst in people. I will use their fear to get them to comply with all that I desire. Once it is establish here, the rest of the world will follow. Trust me.”

For Adults Only: Keys to Unlocking Your Destiny

Too often, people follow fads and trends with no understanding of what it all means. As a result, they allow the world around them to tell them who they are and how they should live – becoming something that is far beneath their potential. For Adults Only, is about taking control of your life to fulfill the dreams that are in your heart. It is about fulfilling the reason you are here – Destiny. However, this book is not for those who want to blame their past for where they are today. This book is For Adults Only.

Excerpt – Vision is everything and Reality is nothing

So much of what we see is subject to change and if given enough time, it will. However, what you see in your mind is more real than what you perceive with your five senses. There is nothing created by people that did not first start in someone’s mind as an idea or vision. Moving from recognizing what is in you to carrying it out requires having a vision. Your Destiny has to be clear in your mind if you are to fulfill it. If you cannot see where you want to go in life then it will be impossible to get there. You must have a vision of Destiny. Moreover, you have to make sure you picked the right vision. If you pick the wrong vision then you will pay a heavy price to accomplish that vision, versus the right one. You do not want to spend your life doing something that is not in line with your Destiny. Chances are you are already doing that.

Having a vision is crucial for a successful life. It gives your life direction and focus. It also reveals what it will take (cost) to get there. Having a vision will guide, guard and govern your life when you embrace it. Even those who fall on “hard times” will need a vision in order to move from despair to Destiny. This is why every parent should instill in their children an understanding of Destiny and purpose for their life. Moreover, a parent’s job is not finished until their child or children are mature enough to make intelligent and positive decisions, while accepting full responsibility when they do not. This does not come automatically when they turn 18. Part of my success today is due to what my parents taught me as a child.

Some believe that the answer for helping young people stay out of trouble is to create more programs. When I was growing up, we did not have recreation centers or programs to occupy our time. We used our imagination and the guidance of our parents to occupy our time. Young people do not need more programs to occupy their time. They simply need more vision. Unfortunately, most of us were not encouraged to follow our dreams or passions as children. Instead, we were told to get a job.

In addition, society has taught us to pursue money when we really should pursue our Destiny. Everything you need to succeed is already in you. It is like my daughter, who cannot read or write yet. However, the ability to do so is already in her. This is why she goes to school to learn and to bring out her natural abilities. Her mind is made to receive information and to comprehend (process) that information – enabling her to grow in her abilities. With time, she will not only learn how to read and write, but will master it.

In this natural process of learning, she will discover her own uniqueness. Throughout the years, her teachers and her mother and I will celebrate and encourage her to be her best. This is what our young people need today. They need adults in their lives who believe in them, adults who will take time to encourage and help them discover their true potential – Destiny. This is the key to their success and the future of the world. Unfortunately, the world classifies people based upon one of the following categories:

The Poor are typically those with or without a job and are barely making it financially. They work hard but have very little to show for their efforts. Life for them is a daily struggle with no end in sight.

The Middle Class are typically those with a career (professionals) and are doing okay financially. They are able to pay all their bills and live comfortably with a little money left over to save or take a vacation, every two years or so.

The Rich are typically those with a dream that employ the poor and middle class to fulfill that dream. They are doing very well financially with more than enough to meet their financial and material needs and the lives of those around them.

Which of these categories have you allowed society to label you?

Dante’s Destiny: Nothing Is What It Seems

Dante’s Destiny is a thrill ride that will keep you guessing, until the very end. The battle between good and evil goes beyond the natural and into the supernatural, where nothing is what it seems. Dante struggles with the constant turmoil that plagues his family, while searching for the meaning of it all. It is when you think you have it all figured out, that you realize – you don’t have a clue. Also, pay attention to the words in italics, spoken by the King, to discover a hidden message.

Excerpt

A week later. The secret meeting is about to take place in an abandoned building on the east side of Peaceville. The building has been condemned for many years and is slated to be demolished in a few days. Several developers have come together to turn the area into a strip-mall; with restaurants, retail stores, and a large grocery store. A side door opens and in walks Tango, an ex-TED (Terrorist Enforcement Division) agent.

He finds an old desk and a couple of chairs, and sits down and waits for his contact. At 11:57am, the side door opens again, and in walks Tango’s contact.

“Hey, Tango, long time no see.”

“Yea. Its good to see you again after all these years. Well, I won’t keep you. Here is the information I’ve collected for you.”

“What did you find out?”

“The man behind the mysterious attacks on the Simms family is none other than, A.J. Grimason.”

“Who’s that?”

“Grimason is a crooked TED agent that I used to work for, many years ago. Back then, he was very crafty in his approach for handling matters of National Security. He didn’t care what it took to find terrorist, even if he had to make up facts to get the job done.”

“What do you mean?”

“He would lie and accuse innocent people of things that they didn’t do in order to look good to his superiors. As a result, he has become the top man of TED. He answers to no one but the President. He is a very dangerous man.”

“But this doesn’t explain why he’s after the Simms family.”

“I was just getting to that. According to my sources, Mr. Simms, or grandpa, as he was lovingly called, was into more than just illegal gambling. He apparently ran secret TED operations for Grimason. As a result, he found out some things about Grimason that no one was supposed to know. It took Grimason over forty years to find out what grandpa knew, but, by that time, he was already dead. The letter you have is the only proof he had of the illegal operations Grimason and his team conducted. If that letter ever got into the hands of the proper authorities, it would be the end of Grimason’s career. He would be charged for treason and put to death. He figures if he can get rid of the entire family, he would secure his powerful position, and escape certain death.”

“This is crazy.”

“I know. Whatever you do, don’t lose that letter.”

“So, what do I do now that I have this information?”

“You have to contact the one man that can be trusted. His name is Trent. He has been a good friend of mine for many years and I trust him with my life. Here is his private number. He will be expecting your call. Make sure you mention my name. Do you have any questions?”

“Well, it seems pretty straightforward, but I don’t think its going to be easy.

“No. It will not be easy. You will have to testify in court after Trent receives the letter and this information. You’re going to have to put yourself on the line. It’s the only way to stop Grimason.”

“I see. So, I guess this is it?”

“I’m afraid so. Like I told you before, after this, you will not see or hear from me again. Tell no one of this conversation and talk only with Trent. Once you do that, everything should work out fine. Once you make contact with him, he will do whatever it takes to protect you until the trial.”

“Thank you, Tango, for everything.”

“You’re more than welcome, Mary.”

Mary places the information in her attaché case. Then they both get up to leave the building.

Suddenly, the ground begins to tremble and shake.

“What is going on?” asked Mary.

“I don’t know.” They both run to the side door they came in, but it won’t open. It’s locked. They both push as hard as they can but it won’t budge. Then Tango kicks the door, but it still won’t open. They look out the window and there are two bulldozers and a wrecking ball coming towards the building.

“This building wasn’t scheduled for demolition until the end of the week!” Shouted Tango. “They’ve either stepped up their schedule or someone is on to us.”

“I knew we shouldn’t have met!” shouted Mary.

“Look, don’t panic. I have been in worse situations than this. Let’s look for another way out.” Tango and Mary run to another exit, but it to was locked. They try all three exits and none would open. The wrecking ball hits the building, knocking a giant hole in the wall.

“What are we going to do?” shouted Mary.

“Don’t panic!” shouted Tango, as he runs to a window and pulls out his old TED badge. “Hey, stop the wrecking ball!” The construction crew cannot hear him because of the machines. The wrecking ball hits the building again, causing that same side of the building to buckle. Tango and Mary begin to shout as loud as they could to the construction crew, but they still could not hear them. Mary runs back to a couple of the other exits, frantically pushing on them.

“Damn it, open!” Then she kicks it and it opens. At the same time, the wrecking ball hits the building a third time, along with one of the bulldozers. “Tango, come on, the whole place is about to come down!”

Dante’s Destiny II: Lights Out

After the death of A. J. Grimason, there arose an even greater threat – Grimason II. He is hell-bent on finishing what his father started. Destiny emerges on the scene to announce her candidacy for president. However, no one knows where she came from or what her true motives are. Meanwhile, Dante is fighting for his life after a severe gunshot wound to his chest, from an unknown sniper. This gripping tale of good versus evil goes to an entirely new level that will leave you speechless!

Excerpt

At the hospital, the emergency generators come on, giving power to all the life-sustaining equipment and hallway lights. One of the officers outside Dante’s room checks on him and Denise.

“Is everything okay in here?” he whispered.

“Yes, we’re fine. What’s going on?” asked Denise.

“There has been a power outage. Don’t worry; one of my partners is calling the electrical company.”

Just then, the generators fail and the entire hospital plummets back into darkness. Pop…! Pop…! Pop…! There is gunfire outside the hospital.

“Hey man, we got trouble!” yelled one of the officers in the hallway.

“Ma’am, you and your husband need to get on the floor and away from the windows,” said the first officer.

Then he goes back out into the hallway, while Denise helps Dante out of bed and onto the floor. The officer and his partners shine their flashlights down the hallway but they do not see anyone coming. Then one of them radios headquarters.

“Come in dispatch; this is, Officer Zing. We have a situation at the Peaceville General Hospital and need immediate assistance.”

“Roger that, Officer Zing. What’s the situation?”

“There has been a major power outage in the hospital. The emergency lights just went out and we are completely in the dark. I repeat; we are completely in the dark. And to make matters worse, we heard gunshots out…”

Pop…! Pop…!

“Get down! Get down!” shouted Zing.

The three officers hit the floor. Two bullets pierce the windows of Dante’s room.

“Are you two okay in there?” yelled Zing.

“Yes! But somebody is shooting through the windows!” yelled Denise.

“Dispatch, we need that backup now! Someone is shooting through the window of, Pastor Dante’s room! Detective Timmons made it very clear that his protection is our top priority. Now get us some backup, damn it!”

Zing starts to panic a little, as beads of sweat form on his brow and trickles down his face.

“Roger that, Officer Zing. Secure the area and hold tight. Help is on the way. Attention all units; attention all units: officers requesting immediate assistance at Peaceville General Hospital. All units in the area, report to Peaceville General Hospital, immediately. Shots fired; possible sniper. Proceed with caution.”

“Roger that, dispatch. We are in route and should be there shortly,” responded two officers in the vicinity.

“Look, I’m going in there and make sure they’re okay,” said Zing. “You two stay out here and cover me.”

“We got your back, Zing.”

Zing slowly opens the door, crawls in, and eases his way to Dante and Denise. They are both huddled in a corner on the floor, away from the windows. Officer Zing reassures them that everything is going to be okay. As he did that, Maalik and Makani position themselves in front of the windows, to shield Dante and Denise. Then they call for their own backup. The Trinians in the lobby hear the call and immediately phase through the floors to reach the top floor. They secure the entire top floor, preventing anyone or anything from getting through. Outside, the sniper gets a call from his employer, Grimason.

“Hawkeye, do you have a visual?”

“Negative. There is something in front of the windows blocking my view. I cannot get a positive fix on the target. I took a couple of pot-shots, hoping to hit him.”

“Well, save your ammo until you get a clear shot. I want this operation to go smoothly and by the numbers. We cannot afford any mistakes.”

“Yes sir. I’ll wait for the right moment.”

Hawkeye, aka Lorenzo, hunkers down and waits for that one clear shot to take out Dante.

Meanwhile, Timmons and his men are pinned down outside, next to his car. Lorenzo fires off a few more shots, to let them know who is in charge. Pop…! Pop…! Pop…! He hits, Sanchez in the shoulder.

“Come in dispatch, this is Timmons! I have an officer down! I repeat; I have an officer down! I need medical personnel out here, now! We are still pinned down under heavy gunfire, right outside Peaceville General Hospital! Do you copy?”

Timmons then returns gunfire in the direction of the sniper.

“Roger that Detective Timmons. Attention all units: we have an officer down. I repeat; we have an officer down. Proceed with caution to Peaceville General Hospital. The area is not secure. I repeat; the area is not secure.”

Timmons wraps Sanchez’s wound but he is losing a lot of blood. Meanwhile, there is chaos inside the hospital with patients asking questions and doctors trying to figure out what is happening. A few doctors and nurses see Sanchez outside and try to help him. They walk a few feet from the entrance but Lorenzo stops them with carefully placed shots, a few inches in front of their feet. Pop…! Pop…! Pop…!

“Oh my God; get back inside!” yelled one of the doctors as he pushes and shoves the others inside.

Pop…! Pop…! Pop…! Lorenzo fires a few more shots to let them know he is serious.

“Hold tight, Sanchez. You’re not dying on me today,” said Timmons, as he fired a couple more shots in the air, hoping to scare the sniper.

However, Lorenzo returns fire. Bullets shatter the car windows and pierce the doors.

“Crap! This guy is serious,” said Timmons, as he ducks for cover and shields Sanchez.

“Is there anything that I can do sir?” asked Jackson.

“No, just hold tight. Backup is on the way. Unfortunately, we are sitting ducks out here until help arrives. Dispatch, where is that backup?” shouted Timmons.

“Backup is in route to your location and should be there shortly. They are stuck in traffic from a four-car pileup on the interstate. It is going to take them some time to get to you. Hold your position until help arrives.”

“That’s just great! What good is backup if you can’t depend on them?”

It seems that drastic measures are in order if they are to survive.

Excerpt

And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched. (Numbers 13:27, 28, 31, 32)

This has to be one of the saddest stories in the whole Bible. The children of Israel got right to the edge of the Promised Land and blew it! They brought back a report that was supposed to confirm what God had promised them, but then they added their “but” by saying “nevertheless.” They said it was the land of prosperity, but it was occupied.

Therefore, in their minds, they could not take what God said was theirs. I guess they expected God to evict the previous owners. God told the children of Israel years prior that He would drive out their enemies, but not completely or all at once (Exodus 23:27–31). He would drive out enough of them until the children of Israel were big enough in numbers to finish the job and possess the land.

God is not going to do everything for you. You are going to have to fight some battles and trust God to give you the strength to gain the victory. When you spend too much time in the wilderness, it causes fear and doubt to set in. When you received the vision of God for your life, you embraced it with all your heart. You were so sure that God was going to use you for a mighty work, but now you are not sure. You have begun to question God’s word to you and have mixed it with doubt, which brings more questions to your mind. Again, God is not the author of confusion. You have allowed the enemy to convince you that you cannot do what God has already said you would.

Once you receive a thought and believe it you will begin to speak accordingly, so be careful of what you speak over your life. The devil will try to convince you that either you cannot achieve your destiny or you really did not hear from God in the first place. If he is successful in doing either, then your speech will change based upon what you believe. Your speech determines your actions, and your actions will determine where you end up in life, i.e., your destiny. The previous passage of scripture shows us many things that went wrong. It shows how easily believers can get confused and miss the plan of God for their lives.

The children of Israel are a lot like believers today who allow the circumstances of life to confuse them and take them off course. When you live your life based upon what you can see, then you will lean to your own understanding, which can further add to the confusion. Once confusion has taken its hold, then frustration consumes your mind and clouds your judgment of what is from God and what is not. This is really when you know how well you have embraced the vision of God for your life. This is when you find out how much you really know God. The test has been placed in front of you; will you pass it?

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5, 6)

God’s House: Returning to the Heart of Ministry

God’s House is about going back to the beginning, returning to the heart of God and the value of the church. God gave us spiritual leaders to bless us (Ephesians 4:11-14).  Unfortunately, many churches today are ruled by heavy-handed leaders who have forgotten why they were “called.” As a result, many have drawn back from God and the church – feeling lost and confused about what they once believed. This book is for those who have been rejected and hurt by those who were assigned to watch for their soul.

Highlights:

– The role of spiritual leadership

– The true meaning of “ministry”

– The problems that exist and how to fix them

God’s House is compelling and very timely. It’s an affirming read for those who are at a crossroads concerning their place of worship. The honesty and forthrightness of this book is needed now more than ever before. God bless you mightily for this book.” – Sheritha Bowman, Author of Diary of a Woman Pastor

Excerpt

I like the picture shown in Acts chapter two. These Christians did not just meet on Sundays, but other days of the week as well. They became more involved in each other’s lives outside of the church. They knew where each other lived, their different occupations, and their children. This was more than a church – it was a close-knit community. They had a level of closeness and acceptance that the world must see from our churches today.

They no longer saw themselves as being separate. The commonality they shared was the belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was their link and reason for being together. I believe they received a level of insight into the future. What they experienced in the first-century church would continue in heaven. After Jesus returns and claims His church, we will continue to fellowship together and have all things common – forever (Matthew 25:1-13, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-19).

Their oneness also stirred their hearts to give to those in need. They took the extra goods and money they had and gave it to those who lacked. So much so, that all their needs were met, until there was no one left with a need. Everyone was now able to live a better quality of life, because of the generous giving of their brethren (community). This is the pattern for us to follow today. We should be willing to take the extra God has given us, and give it to those who have need, instead of putting them through a pre-qualification process before giving. Jesus tells us to simply give to those who ask (Luke 6:38).

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. (Matthew 5:42-45, emphasis added)

Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions (or rather, they had him). (Mark 10:21, 22, emphasis added)

God uses people to get things done in the earth. Therefore, if we hold back our gifts and resources, then we limit the very hand of God. The church in the book of Acts treated one another like their own, flesh and blood relatives – perhaps better. That is how God sees us. God does not just see us as individuals. He sees us as one big family. Therefore, since we are family, we should care about the well-being of our family members. The best way to defeat selfishness and greed is to give. I have on many occasions, sown marketing information to fellow authors, and have reaped the same – sometimes in the same day.

No one in any church should lack what they need. If so then all the members are to blame. Who cares if your house is worth 1.5 million dollars if your brother or sister in the Lord is just one paycheck away from losing their house or apartment? Who cares about your new car if your brother or sister is still catching the bus? In order for us to do better, we must first see better. We must open our eyes and see the needs that exist all around us. From there, we might be moved with compassion to meet those needs (Matthew 9:35-38, 14:14-21):

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance, there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise, a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan (not of the household of faith, John 4:9, 10), as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. (Luke 10:30-37, emphasis added)

The spiritual leaders in the above parable (story), should have cared about the condition of the man that fell among thieves. Their positions of authority were given to care for those in need. The priest that proclaimed the Word of God, like pastors today, was not willing to practice what he preached. It was easier for him to tell others how they should live than to practice it in his own life. It was easier for him to hold the title of a priest than to live the life of a priest.

Chapter One: A Modern Day Testimony

In a world full of crime, tragedy and death, there never seems to be enough positive things to hear or see.  I have found that the world is more interested in who died, who slept with whose wife, who killed whom, and so on.  Tragedy becomes the top story of the day on every news program and headline of every newspaper.  Living in this world can be downright depressing.  Where is the Good News?  We do not hear about what God is doing in the world.  We only hear about what the devil is doing.  However, Jesus is still Lord of all!

I believe that everyone has a story to tell, some with happy conclusions and others with sad endings.  Others have stories to tell of the goodness of God in the land of the living, stories that will encourage and inspire for years to come.  Just think if no writers of the Bible had written down the accounts that we now read, or if the historians had not recorded the events from which we get our history books.  No one would know that God really exists today and our past would be lost.

It is my desire with this book to be a living epistle known and read of all men, and for God to be glorified.  I refuse to let all that God has done for me go to the grave when I die.  I am committed to leaving my mark in this world so that all would know that there is a God in heaven and He is involved in the affairs of men.  This book is an account of the first ten years of my walk with the Lord.

It was May 25, 1992; the moment I have been waiting for has come. I remember coming home from the store to find a message on my answering machine. It was my dad, and he was in town and wanted to see me. Unfortunately, his daughter had passed away and he was in town for her funeral. I never got a chance to meet her. I guess you could say she was my half sister. It’s ironic that on this day my dad would lose a daughter but gain a son. I called him back while praying to God that His will would be done in this situation. My dad and I talked for a little while, and then he put one of my cousins on the phone. We arranged to meet at a grocery store near my house. The course was set. I called a friend and told her that I was going to meet my dad for the first time in twenty years. She agreed to pray for me and that everything would turn out well.

This was wild, like something you would see on a talk show. I was really going to meet my dad. My heart was pumping hard like a runner in a race, and my mind was going a hundred miles an hour. I went to the grocery store and waited for my cousin. Shortly after he arrived, I got into the car and we were on our way. I was riding in a car with a young man that I’d never met before, yet he was my flesh-and-blood cousin. He began to tell me how he and I used to play together when I was a little baby. Even though I didn’t remember anything, he was talking about it. I had total peace in my spirit with every turn we made on the road that this stranger would take me to my dad.

We pulled up to the front of the house. I was so close, yet not close enough. The walk up to the house seemed to be the longest ever. My cousin led me through the living room to the kitchen. It was a holiday, so a few of my aunts and uncles were there. It was like a family reunion, and I was the guest of honor. As we walked through the kitchen, my cousin began to rattle off names of introduction. I was shaking hands and looking into the faces of strangers who were my family. The last thing I heard my cousin say was “dad,” but it didn’t register. I thought he was talking about his dad. However, when I turned to my right, there was a man standing in the corner of the kitchen. Silence filled the room as I stood there looking at this man of small build like mine, with a look of shock and slight fear of what would happen next. We both stood there, face to face, as a son meets his father for the first time in over twenty years.

Excerpt – The Power of Purpose

Early the next morning, I woke up with images of preaching and teaching on my mind. I was thinking about a message that I wanted to preach entitled, “For His glory, for our good” (Romans 8:28). God’s heart towards us is to work all things out for our good. God loves us so much that He cannot stop thinking about us. We are always on His mind, and His mind is always for us to have dominion in the earth.

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet. (Psalms 8:4-6, emphasis added)

As we take dominion and authority in the earth, we should always give God the glory. The reason we are able to have success in this life, is because of the grace and power of God, working on our behalf. Therefore, the credit never belongs to us but to God. As we do this, God will in turn give us glory or credit for our obedience and works of faith. We can see that Jesus’ focus was to glorify God and not himself.

This is very hard at times because we get a wonderful feeling when we accomplish goals and tasks that we have set for ourselves. I do not believe that there is anything wrong with feeling good about accomplishing things or helping others. However, we have to keep in mind that we are doing these things for God. We do the work, but God is our power source to get the job done.

We have to stay plugged into Him, allowing His power to increase our limited bodies to do the impossible. We all have been apprehended of Christ for a reason, and it is that reason [calling], that we must accomplish for God’s glory. We must all let our lights shine in the midst of what is sometimes, a very dark world.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16, emphasis added)

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that [the reason and purpose] for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12-14, emphasis added)

Paul understood the importance of accomplishing his Purpose/Destiny in God. He was so focused on finishing his course that he gave little regard to the accomplishments of the past. He was happy that he did some good things for God, I am sure, but his assignment was not finished yet. He realized if he continued to focus on the successes of the past he would miss the next step[s] – failing to reach the prize of his calling.

His and our destiny, show the reason we were born into the earth, and into Christ Jesus. Destiny was still calling Paul and he was not going to let anything or anyone distract him from accomplishing it. Dominion and authority has been given to us, for others to be blessed. As we do good works in the earth for others, God is glorified and pleased.

When the righteous are in authority, the people [world] rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people [world] mourn [911, Hurricane Katrina & New Orleans, and the Iraq War]. (Proverbs 29:2, emphasis added)
